Kinton Ramen

Wow, it's been forever since my last post..apologies. My life is just not that interesting -___-

Anyway, Kinton Ramen (from the makers of Guu) opened up last month and so ever since then I really wanted to go.  Well, I finally went yesterday and I knew coming to this place I would be expected to wait a while. We ended up waiting around 40 minutes.

I forgot to take a picture of the restaurant ><, but here's the menu. Small selection - I got the Cheese ramen (yumz)

You can see the place is pretty narrow. We sat at a long table near the window which is also shared by others.  If I ever go next time, I'd like to sit by the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs cook your noodles :).

Top left is what I had - Cheese ramen, and yes that is a crap load of swiss cheese you see next to the pork belly. Pork belly was tender so I like :).  The broth was a little salty imo, but still okay.

Top right is the shoyu ramen with pork shoulder. My friend added extra seaweed to hers (note: it cost $1 more for the seaweed)

Bottom - Karaage spicy fried chicken, this wasn't bad :). The fried chicken is mild spicy so perfect for those who can't really eat spicy food.

Our bill was put in a little bamboo basket - so cute!

Total was a little bit under $30 with tax excluding tip.

Would I come back again? Yes, I'm not a picky eater and I don't mind waiting under an hour. Plus I want to sit by the open kitchen to watch where all the actions happen :). Hopefully by then, they'll have their liquor license so I can have a drink (or two).

Winterlicious 2012

It's that time of year again...Winterlicious where many restaurants offer a fix-priced menu. This year my friends and I went to Fred's Not Here. We had wanted to go for the longest time ever and we just never went! So this year we were set on going to Fred's Not Here.

Appetizer: Grilled eggplant
Main: Linguine with lobster tail
Dessert: Tiramisu

I found the overall meal was good, especially the main..the linguine was a bit spicy which was nice! However, I found the tiramisu average I'm guessing it could be store bought. Funny thing I noticed was that it seemed the restaurant was full of Asians haha xP - all taking pictures of their food of course (that also includes us lol)

Look at the cute portrait of the little puppy, I had to take a picture of it..I wonder if it's Fred's puppy haha.

This dinner was one of DL's last before she left for China to teach for half an year :(.

The second restaurant I visited for Winterlicious was at Cafe California. I highly recommend this restaurant! their food was SO good and apparently their homemade chocolate cake is to die for says LD. But too bad it wasn't on their winterlicious menu..so I'll be sure to come back for that cake haha.

Appetizer: Calamari (delish!)
Main: filet with vegetables
Dessert: Chocolate mousse cake

TN, LD and I had a pitcher of their Mama's sangria, it was pretty strong because at the end of the dinner..I felt tipsy and tired and I just wanted to go to sleep -__-.

Late post - Happy New Year

It's almost the end of the month and I haven't post an entry in a very long time. It's due to the fact that I'm extremely lazy!

Since it's still January, I can still wish everyone a Happy New Year right? Hahaha, and those who celebrate Lunar New Year - Happy new year! I didn't get a lot of red pockets this year maybe because I'm getting older idk haha. But today is actually the seventh day of the Lunar calendar and today is 人日. The literal translation being: human/person's day so aka everyone's birthday. We're all a year older! Gahh makes me realize I'm almost reaching mid 20s...

Anyway, a few pictures from this month to share...

The day after New Years, LD, RC and I headed down to Buffalo for a day trip. I originally wasn't gonna go but I was glad I did because I got to visit Target and CHEESECAKE FACTORY! (Yes, I had to capitalize that haha). We shopped at the Factory Outlets and Walden Galleria which btw is huge!

My first Target ever and where I bought the oh-so-famous Sonia Kashuk brushes and some items that we didn't have here in Toronto. Actually, Target is planning to make their debut here in Toronto...but that won't be happening until 2013 :(.

After a long tiring day, it was time to eat! This was my first visit (and hopefully not the last) to the Cheesecake Factory. Even though it was packed, we didn't have to wait that long..maybe half an hour? Not bad.

BBQ salmon with mash potatoes and corn. One thing I noticed is that American food portions are HUGE (good for the amount you're paying but not so good for your health haha) I should've opt for the skinny menu that they had. I couldn't finish this meal and had my friends help me out lol.

And of course we can't leave the restaurant without eating the ever famous cheesecakes they have! RC originally suggested to order two pieces to share and both LD and I said "You're nuts!"
So we ordered this Red velvet cheesecake and it was MORE than enough for the three of us!
I thought it tasted really good, but LD and RC said it was okay...I guess they're not much of a cheesecake fan like I am.

Here's LD and I holding the menus haha

This was a few weeks ago, had dinner at Song Cook (located at Yonge & Steeles) with MG. Song Cook is one of those restaurants where you have to take your shoes off and sit on the floor which is heated! How awesome is that? Makes your bum all warm and toasty hahaha :p

Chinese New Year dinner aka 團年飯. Yeah I know, Instagram fail..I was doing this while I was eating lol. I didn't wear any red clothing (because I don't own any) but I did wear red nail polish haha.

Chai Latte @ Aroma Expresso Bar located at Bathurust & Bloor. I've always wanted to go to Aroma for coffee and I finally did when I met up with a friend to catch up. I love Chai lattes and Aroma's chai latte was good! But it's hard to find seats since it's always preoccupied with students "studying".
